“When we retire” we said, “we want to simplify our lives” (Nice idea!) and get back to a meaningful connection to our community and to nature. The Saugatuck area is our home and where we returned to start the journey into lavender and landscaping.
To celebrate our love for this community, we found a one acre piece of land that had been used as a horse farm for the past 25+ years. It was a perfect location with naturally sandy soil, lots of sun, and all of the natural necessities for growing lavender. Even with 1200 lavender plants planned, we knew that our community space would need more than just the calming effects of lavender. So, we added peaceful gardens, bird feeders, exotic trees and plants, a zen garden, fountains, and many small sitting spaces to embrace and enhance that sense of calm restfulness everyone needs. We want to help as many people as we can to be calm, to experience stressless ease, to reconnect with the plants, the smells, the wind, the grass, the sun, and the peace these bring to our souls. We have a creative respect for land, lavender and people.Join us from Mothers Day to Labor Day, Thursdays through Sundays, from 11 to 5, to unwind from the stress of daily life here at The Summerhouse Lavender Farm. |
